Val
graduated as an occupational therapist (OT) in Sydney in 1989.
She
developed a sound grounding in her chosen field, working in a variety of
settings around Australia and overseas. This saw her working with young
clients of the Guide Dogs Association, running group homes for
teenagers, providing therapy in acute medical wards, and working with
the elderly.
A strong
interest in paediatrics led her to a position in school therapy in 1992,
a job she enjoyed so much that she has chosen to specialise in this
field.
In a quest
to expand her knowledge, Val studied paediatrics and human development
at Sydney University, and graduated with an OT Masters degree.
She has
combined working as a senior (Grade 3) OT supervisor, in the Inner West
of Sydney, with her private practice. Val is called on regularly as a
consultant in her field, and presents widely at universities and
professional conferences.
The
Australian Association of Occupational Therapists awarded her Expert in
Occupational Therapy status in 1997.
She is
currently enjoying the rewarding role of studying child development
first hand after the arrival of baby Emile in July 2001!
