Paediatric
Surgeon
Dr Martin is
married with three children and lives in Sydney.
After
graduating in Medicine with second class Honours at Sydney University,
Hugh was a resident at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and registrar at
Concord Repatriation Hospital.
He then
furthered his surgical training in Alice Springs, London and Canterbury
(Kent) before taking up paediatric surgery at Royal Alexandra Hospital
for Children and Royal Children's Hospital Melbourne.
Hugh
returned to Royal Alexandra Hospital for Children as a specialist
surgeon in 1977 with a particular interest in burns and abdominal
surgery.
He has been
involved in surgical education as Supervisor of Surgical Training and
later as an examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
His
involvement in burns includes research as well as Head of the NSW
Paediatric Burns Referral Unit at The Children's Hospital (1990 to
present) and the president of the Australian and New Zealand Burn
Association (1997 and 1998).
Other
research interests include Atypical Mycobacterial Disease, the surgical
aspects of cystic fibrosis and hepatobiliary surgery in children.

Susan Adams MBBS (Hons Syd), FRACS
Paediatric
Surgeon

Susan is a
general paediatric surgeon who trained at the Royal Alexandra Hospital
for Children (then at Camperdown) and Prince of Wales Children's
Hospital (now Sydney Children’s Hospital).
She obtained
her Fellowship in 1994 before travelling to Alderhey Hospital in the UK.
She was
appointed as a staff specialist at Sydney Children’s Hospital and
Visiting Medical Officer at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in 1996.
Susan has
special areas of interest in vascular malformations and abdominal
surgery as well as maintaining a broad general paediatric surgical
practice.
General
